With less than a month until the Persimmon Festival Photo Contest kicks off, the contest’s chairwoman recommends shutterbugs start putting together those prints.
Contest chairwoman Deb Cory welcomes all amateur photographers in Lawrence and surrounding counties to enter the contest. Entries will be taken from 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 21 at the First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center at Seventh and Frank streets.
Entrants can enter one photo in each of the following categories: Festival theme (Shop Local … Buy Mitchell), People, Black and White, Animals, Scenic/Landscape, Flowers, Holiday and Misc.
The smallest photo allowed is 8-by-10 inches, and the largest is 11-by-14 inches. Photos must have a surrounding mat that will protect the photo in its display. Foam display boards are used, so no frames can be included.
Photographs can be viewed through Sept. 27. Visitors to the festival are encouraged to stop to view the pictures and vote for their favorites. For more information, look at the festival booklet, call 849-9701 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
